Congratulations to the Dunedin Amenities Society for being awarded the Taylor Shield at the Keep Dunedin Beautiful Awards recently. The award for the Craigieburn Reserve near Ross Creek recognises the restoration of a unique ecological and heritage site that provides a wonderful glimpse into early colonial Dunedin. Paul Pope from Spiralis has project managed the undertaking, supervising the archaeological excavation, site restoration, and the design and installation of a heritage interpretation trail. The project has also included work with schools and other visitors wanting to know more about the colonial history of Craigieburn. This area is a significant cultural and heritage asset in Dunedin’s landscape and the Society should be proud of their efforts.
